PLYMOUTH, MA Aug 30, 2004 - Mr. Gary Tureski, President and Co-founder of Harvest Technologies Corp today announced the sale of the assets of Harvest’s blood conservation technologies to Haemonetics Corporation, Braintree, MA.
According to Tureski, “Harvest's current technology platform (SmartPReP® Family) is focused in the point of care regenerative medicine arena, using the patients’ own tissues to promote healing. Our products are currently being used in orthopedic, chronic wound, cardiovascular, oral surgery and many other surgical markets. The Company is supporting a multi-center IDE study in the chronic wound area, in the US and Europe. It is also actively developing new regenerative technologies and supporting the necessary clinical research and documentation associated with these initiatives.
Harvest’s blood conservation technologies, although innovative, required market development to capitalize on their potential. The Company’s challenge was to find the focus and resources necessary to both develop its regenerative medicine opportunity and fund the marketing development required for the blood conservation technologies.
Selling the blood conservation technologies truly was a win for both companies. It provides Haemonetics, the blood conservation leader, an expanded platform of synergistic technologies. To Harvest the sale of these assets will provide the focus and resources necessary to accelerate the completion of its IDE as well as the development and clinical documentation of its new regenerative medicine initiatives.”
