March 10, 2000 - Harvest® Technologies' Hemobiologics Division announced Health Canada's concurrence to market the company's SmartPRePTM Autologous Adhesive Gel System in Canada. SmartPRePTM Autologous Adhesive Gel System is designed for the rapid preparation of platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet poor plasma (PPP) from a small sample (45 cc) of a patient's blood. When co-applied with thrombin, the plasma products prepared using the SmartPReP can be used to form an autologous platelet gel and/or fibrin sealant that may be used as an adjunct for hemostasis in patients undergoing surgery or for wound sealing.
