PLYMOUTH, MA (August 20, 2001) - Harvest®Technologies announced that it has expanded its licensing agreement with DePuy AcroMed, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company. The agreement provides DePuy AcroMed with exclusive rights for distribution in Worldwide Markets for the Harvest’s SmartPReP Platelet Concentrate System, sold under the Symphony name in the orthobiologics market.
Harvest’s SmartPReP System, using a patient’s own blood during surgery, harvests and concentrates platelet-rich plasma which contain naturally occurring growth factors and wound healing proteins. The SmartPReP is fast and easy to use and requires only a small blood sample to produce consistently high levels of platelet concentrate. Depuy has been successfully marketing the Symphony System in the US Market during the past two years.
"Our expanded alliance with DePuy AcroMed is a natural extension of the success our two organizations have experienced in the US market," states Gary Tureski, co-founder and president of Harvest Technologies Corporation. "It will introduce Harvest’s technologies into the worldwide orthopedic market place. This agreement also allows Harvest to focus its resources on developing the non-orthopedic soft tissue markets in Plastic, ENT, Oral Surgery and in the Acute Wound Care markets worldwide."
